All The Best - Blake Stewart

1.  Dream, Child  The title is an imperative sentence: Don't give up on your dreams. The title was instructions to myself. The project (dream) that until now eluded me is this published CD collection.

2.  The Testimony  Based on the testimony of the three witnesses to the Book of Mormon.

3.  Wild Rose  I heard a story about an abused child. This song came out of me a few weeks later.

4.  You Never Left Me  For Michael, my big brother.

5.  When the Angels Come  Francis Webster's account of the Martin Hardcart trial, with poetic license about Bobby. There were 7 Bobby's who died on that tragic handcart trek.

6.  With You I Can't Go Wrong  Personal feelings about several teenage crushes. Thank you, Karen, Nancy and Stephanie. Who said love wouldn't last?

7.  I Am John (called Baptist)  Taken from Doctrine and Covenants Section 13. The restoration of the Aaronic Priesthood to the earth in these Last days.

8.  The Coach  Dedicated to John C. Pennington, KIA June 9, 1968, Vietnam. John was my AAU swimming coach at the Roy Municipal Pool when I was 7-9 years old. I don't remember crying at word of his death or at the services when I was 13 years old. I was simply left numb and dumb. I started crying in front of a touring mock-up of the Vietnam Memorial Wall 18 years later. I wrote the song that night. I'm still crying.

9.  Sing a Fun Song  As I dipped into Rock and Pop music as a teenager, then Rock wallowed into angry and hateful sounding metal and grunge, I realized I missed the fun, happy songs my grandfather taught me on the ukelele and guitar.

10.  And For You (Evening Sunset)  Music and the bulk of the lyrics were originally written from my front porch over-looking Fremont Island on the Great Salt Lake at sunset, in springtime, when I was 17 years old. Learning of Daniel Jones and 19 others left through the winter at Devil's Gate near Martin's Cove caused me to change seasons and lyrics for this letter home.
